If you need to find the duplicated data in two group of items, just list them in two column in Excel. Place them in Column A and C. Then in column B, use this formula to find which data in column A is the duplicated one.

The formula above is meant for 5 items.
If you have 100 data in column C, just change the $C$5 value to $C$100.

In Windows 7, if you encountered this problem, it is most probably due to the folder name ended up with a "space " behind it.

This will cause the windows unable to del, rename, or move the folder.

Solution: Use these command

1. use Cmd to open up the source directory
2. type dir /x
3. ren filename~1 filename
4. go to explorer and delete "filename" folder

Unable to update or start Steam on Windows 7?

I am having problem to start my Steam program due to updating of the platform. It is not able to get pass 0%. Everthing works again after I change to this setting! Of couse, I have deleted clientregistry.blob too.

After changing the setting, delete the original steam shortcut on desktop and try running the steam.exe program directly from its folder.

1. Follow all the steps given by kpbird.
2. then right click on "MountPoints2"....go to "permissions..." in which u find a list in "group or username"
3. check on "deny" "full control" for each and every name (including the administrator)....
4. exit regedit.
5. now this problem should not persist even after restart i guess...

Can't promise if it works for everyone ;)

You know, it is really becoming a common sight for us Techies at LPF. We see it more and more that Symantec software is loaded onto the client machines and an uninstall password is registered. Problem is that getting hold of this password is a hopeless mission!

Solution: Run regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit). Navigate to :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\Administrator Only\Security

Modify the “UseVPUninstallPassword” DWord, from 1 to 0.

Exit the editor and run through the uninstall process again.

1. When you got the prompt password window. Open the task manager and look for the “msiexec.exe” program which not running on SYSTEM account.

Note: I’m not using task manager and prefer the process explorer.

2. Kill this process from the task manager.

Several menu options that are available in Lotus Notes® 7.x and 6.x appear to be missing in Lotus Notes 8 client.

Answer
Menu changes are noted in the technote, "Menu mappings: Where to find Notes 6/7 menus that have changed in Notes 8" (#1256781).
Also, there are several menu choices that are considered as "advanced", where typical end users might not have a need for them. Example menus include functions such as debugging, scripting, replication, database creation, and replacement of design. Therefore, these advanced menus are not displayed by default in Notes 8.

To enable the Advanced menus in the Notes 8 client select View > Advanced Menus. The advanced menus will always be enabled (unless you disable them by toggling off the View > Advanced Menus choice) even after you have closed and restarted Notes.

Note: The Advanced menus default to ON if all Notes 8 clients are installed: Notes client, Lotus Domino Designer® client, and Domino Administrator client.

If a Notes-Only install is performed, by default the Advanced Menus are not available. However, the following notes.ini parameter can be supplied through a custom desktop policy or via an MST, and this will enable access to Replace and Refresh Design advanced menu actions: "MenusAdvanced=1"

This table shows menu choices in Notes 6/7 that are now considered "advanced" menu choices in Notes 8. These menus are all disabled by default in Notes 8. and are easily enabled in the client by selecting View > Advanced Menus. CAUSEThis issue occurs when the local installation of your Groove account uses a vCar...This issue occurs when the local installation of your Groove account uses a vCard that has an earlier sequence number than the vCard that is stored on the relay server that is used by your account. Therefore, Groove does not exchange certain kinds of information.

Note Groove vCards are the files that store identity information. vCards use sequence numbers so that Groove can distinguish a later version of the vCard from an earlier version of the vCard. Groove components consider the vCard that has the highest sequence number to be reliable.

When the local sequence number has a large number, it is treated as being more current. Therefore, your current information carries over to the relay server.

Note In Groove Workspace 2.5 and later versions of Groove, the sequence number is increased by increments of 1,000 every time that the account is exported and imported. Minor changes, such as an identity information update or a new relay assignment, increase the sequence number by 1. Therefore, this issue is less likely to occur in current versions of Groove than in Groove Workspace 2.1. However, it is still possible.

To update your local vCard, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.

On one of the computers (Computer1) on which you use your Groove account, save your account to a file.
On another computer (Computer2) that has Groove installed but that does not have your account on it, double-click the file that you saved in step 1 to import your account.

Note If you do not have an additional computer that is available for this step, use the procedure in the "If you have one computer that receives all data and other computers that do not receive the data" section instead.
In the Groove Options menu on Computer1, click Preferences, and then click the Account tab. Confirm that Computer2 is listed.
Tell your contacts to log out of Groove and then to log back on to Groove. This process updates the contacts' awareness information for your account.
After you have successfully completed this procedure, you can delete the Groove account from Computer2.

sometimes we may need to copy a folder/directory structure. an easy way is by using xcopy in the windows xp cmd console.

launch cmd in Start->Run
use this command:

xcopy /t/e/i "/my folder/2009" "/my folder/2010"

this will copy the 2009 folder and its subdirectories into 2010 folder.

During the playback of your recorded conference, you have the following options:

Note: To undo any of these options, repeat the same steps and it will reverse the process.

Temp files slows hard drive response to a halt

We encountered this serious problem at our server. SERIOUS!

It wont boot to windows. There is message at POST screen that says attempting to boot a: , attempting to boot c: , and attempting to boot cdroom.

After ages (approx. 30 minutes) we would get a blank screen that will last about as long before we even get to see the windows loading logo. Upon login of the system in Microsoft Windows 2003, we are unable to view the content of the c:. It take forever to do so. Any program, or icon from c: drive is not loadable.

Cut to shorter story, finally I found out the root has been flooded with countless (COUNTLESS) number of CT***.tmp files. Immediately I curse FUCK YOU ARCSERV!!!!!!! Deleted the tmp files. Well it is took me 4 hours already with a command prompt del /q and I dont even know if it is half done or not.

Finding the largest MTU, by EXPERIMENT
If your MTU is too low already, (maybe 576), the following method will not be able to detect whether you can switch to an optimal size..... So first follow "CHANGING MTU for PPPoE" to reset MTU to 1500, reboot, then come back to this!
The best value for MTU is that value just before your packets get fragmented. How do you find out that? by using ping! Open an MSDOS command prompt, and just use ping -l 1472 -f www.dslreports.com, (that is a dash-letter-l-for-lambda not a dash-number-one). Reduce 1472 by 10 until you no longer get the "packet needs to be fragmented" error message, then increase by 1 until you find the max command line number for ping.
Add 28 more to this (since you specified ping packet data size, not including a packet header of 28 bytes) AND THIS IS YOUR MaxMTU.
The MaxMTU you get using this method might very well be 1500, in which case, everything is pretty boring, and your MaxMTU must already be set ok, otherwise you could not get ping working up to 1472.
For PPPoE, your MaxMTU should be no more than 1492, to allow space for the 8 byte PPPoE "wrapper", but again, experiment to find the optimal value.. For PPPoE, the stakes are high: if you get MTU wrong, you may not just be sub-optimal, things like UPLOADING, or web pages, may stall, or not work at all!

One of our eldest manager passed away today after taking a long leave for treatment. Old but energetic, wise and down to earth person.
