Missing Replace Design menu/option in Lotus Notes 8
Question
Several menu options that are available in Lotus Notes® 7.x and 6.x appear to be missing in Lotus Notes 8 client.
Answer
Menu changes are noted in the technote, "Menu mappings: Where to find Notes 6/7 menus that have changed in Notes 8" (#1256781).
Also, there are several menu choices that are considered as "advanced", where typical end users might not have a need for them. Example menus include functions such as debugging, scripting, replication, database creation, and replacement of design. Therefore, these advanced menus are not displayed by default in Notes 8.
To enable the Advanced menus in the Notes 8 client select View > Advanced Menus. The advanced menus will always be enabled (unless you disable them by toggling off the View > Advanced Menus choice) even after you have closed and restarted Notes.
Note: The Advanced menus default to ON if all Notes 8 clients are installed: Notes client, Lotus Domino Designer® client, and Domino Administrator client.
If a Notes-Only install is performed, by default the Advanced Menus are not available. However, the following notes.ini parameter can be supplied through a custom desktop policy or via an MST, and this will enable access to Replace and Refresh Design advanced menu actions: "MenusAdvanced=1"
This table shows menu choices in Notes 6/7 that are now considered "advanced" menu choices in Notes 8. These menus are all disabled by default in Notes 8. and are easily enabled in the client by selecting View > Advanced Menus. Also noted in the 2nd column is the new location of the menu choice if it has changed from Notes 6/7.

The sequence numbers that are associated with your account become unsynchronized. When this occurs, you experience one or more of the following presence and delivery services issues:
You cannot see when other users are online on one or more of the computers.
Other users may see your account as being offline when you are online on one or more of the computers.
You can receive messages only on one computer and not another.
You can receive workspace changes only on one computer and not another.

Therefore, Groove does not exchange certain kinds of information.
Note Groove vCards are the files that store identity information. vCards use sequence numbers so that Groove can distinguish a later version of the vCard from an earlier version of the vCard. Groove components consider the vCard that has the highest sequence number to be reliable.

Do this enough times to make the local sequence number larger than the sequence number that is on the vCard that is stored on the relay server. When the local sequence number has a large number, it is treated as being more current. Therefore, your current information carries over to the relay server.
Note In Groove Workspace 2.5 and later versions of Groove, the sequence number is increased by increments of 1,000 every time that the account is exported and imported. Minor changes, such as an identity information update or a new relay assignment, increase the sequence number by 1. Therefore, this issue is less likely to occur in current versions of Groove than in Groove Workspace 2.1. However, it is still possible.
To update your local vCard, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.
If your account always appears to be offline
On one of the computers (Computer1) on which you use your Groove account, save your account to a file.
On another computer (Computer2) that has Groove installed but that does not have your account on it, double-click the file that you saved in step 1 to import your account.
Note If you do not have an additional computer that is available for this step, use the procedure in the "If you have one computer that receives all data and other computers that do not receive the data" section instead.
In the Groove Options menu on Computer1, click Preferences, and then click the Account tab. Confirm that Computer2 is listed.
Tell your contacts to log out of Groove and then to log back on to Groove. This process updates the contacts' awareness information for your account.
After you have successfully completed this procedure, you can delete the Groove account from Computer2.
If you have one computer that receives all data and other computers that do not receive the data
Fetch all workspaces to the computer (Computer1) that receives all data.
Delete the account from the other computer or computers.
Note You will lose any messages that are not on Computer1.
Save the account on Computer1.
Import the saved account to one of the other computers while Computer1 is online.
After the two computers synchronize, save the account again.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each additional computer. Make sure that you always import the most recent account file.
Important Do not change the sequence of these steps. If you save the account before you delete the account from the other computers, other synchronization problems may be created.

For example, you create an account file, and then you change your identity information, or you upgrade Groove. In this scenario, the relay server has your new changes and the correspondingly increased sequence number. However, the older account file does not have the new changes and the increased sequence number. When you then import the older account file, the sequence number is earlier than the sequence number that is on the relay server.

how to copy folder structure only?
sometimes we may need to copy a folder/directory structure. an easy way is by using xcopy in the windows xp cmd console.
launch cmd in Start->Run
use this command:
xcopy /t/e/i "/my folder/2009" "/my folder/2010"
this will copy the 2009 folder and its subdirectories into 2010 folder.
give it a try?

NSLookup
nslookup is very good to trouble shoot LAN/WAN problem...
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997324(EXCHG.65,loband).aspx
->>>
For Exchange Server to send Internet mail, the DNS servers that Exchange Server uses for your domain must be able to resolve external domain names. To verify that your DNS servers can resolve external domain names, use the Nslookup tool (Nslookup.exe) if you are running Exchange 2003 on Windows 2000 servers.
Before You Begin
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you perform the procedure in this topic, read Verifying DNS Design and Configuration .
Procedure
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to use Nslookup to verify DNS configuration
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At a command prompt, type Nslookup, and then press ENTER.
Type server, where IP address is the IP address of your external DNS server.
Type set q=MX, and then press ENTER.
Type, where domain name is the name of an external mail domain, and then press ENTER. The mail exchanger (MX) resource record for the domain that you entered should be displayed. If the MX record is not displayed, DNS is not configured to resolve external domain names.
Example
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following example shows how the DNS server for example.com resolves the IP address of the external domain contoso.com:
C:\> nslookup
Default Server: pdc.corp.example.com
Address: 192.168.6.13
> server 10.255.255.255
Default Server: dns1.example.com
Address: 10.255.255.255
> set q=mx
> contoso.com.
Server: dns1.example.com
Address: 192.168.10.10
contoso.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail1.contoso.com
contoso.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail2.contoso.com
contoso.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail3.contoso.com
mail1.contoso.com internet address = 192.168.255.011
mail2.contoso.com internet address = 192.168.255.012
mail3.contoso.com internet address = 192.168.255.013
In this example, the preconfigured DNS server is behind a proxy server. Therefore, an external or Internet DNS server with a known IP address of 10.255.255.255 was used to perform the query. Next, the query type was set to MX to locate the mail exchangers for contoso.com. In this example, three SMTP servers are equally balanced, each with its own IP address.

Temp files slows hard drive response to a halt
We encountered this serious problem at our server. SERIOUS!
It wont boot to windows. There is message at POST screen that says attempting to boot a: , attempting to boot c: , and attempting to boot cdroom.
After ages (approx. 30 minutes) we would get a blank screen that will last about as long before we even get to see the windows loading logo. Upon login of the system in Microsoft Windows 2003, we are unable to view the content of the c:. It take forever to do so. Any program, or icon from c: drive is not loadable.
Cut to shorter story, finally I found out the root has been flooded with countless (COUNTLESS) number of CT***.tmp files. Immediately I curse FUCK YOU ARCSERV!!!!!!! Deleted the tmp files. Well it is took me 4 hours already with a command prompt del /q and I dont even know if it is half done or not.

How to manually reset TCP/IP - Unable to clear NetBT
In Windows XP, a reset command is available in the IP context of the NetShell utility. Follow these steps to use the reset command to reset TCP/IP manually:
To open a command prompt, click Start and then click Run.
Copy and paste (or type) the following command in the Open box and then press ENTER:
cmd
At the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Note If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
When you run the reset command, it rewrites two registry keys that are used by TCP/IP. This has the same result as removing and reinstalling the protocol. The reset command rewrites the following two registry keys:
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCP\Parameters\
To run the manual command successfully, you must specify a file name for the log, in which the actions that netsh takes will be recorded. When you run the manual command, TCP/IP is reset and the actions that were taken are recorded in the log file, known as resetlog.txt in this article.
The first example, c:\resetlog.txt, creates a path where the log will reside. The second example, resetlog.txt, creates the log file in the current directory. In either case, if the specified log file already exists, the new log will be appended to the end of the existing file.
